breck.

Grant, G, and I spent the weekend in Breckenridge. The boys skied, and I watched lots of cable television. It was pretty perfect... lots of TLC shows. I also spent some time on Main Street, looking in shops and enjoying a nutella & banana crepe. Mmmmmmm. It reminded me of my favorite crepe place in New York. So good.

it was a pretty weekend.

so lucky.

a crepe and a new book.

On the drive home, G and I stopped to snowshoe at Hoosier Pass. We weren't out for very long but we found a pretty spot.

it's blizzard time.

We are currently in a blizzard... woohoo. That meant that both G and I got to leave work early today! And hopefully work will be canceled tomorrow... we are keeping our fingers crossed! G asked if he could stay at Grant's house for the blizzard. I was unsure at first and then realized that we would both have more fun if he got to hang out with Grant, and I got to watch movies and craft all evening. It would have been great to have him around... but not necessary. I am thankful that he has Grant!

my drive home.

Today was the first day of the Compassion craft fair... I am not sure how great I will do since we left early today and we may not be there tomorrow! I am hopeful that they will extend it to the beginning of next week. I made a few more cards last night to make a grand total of 25... hopefully they will sell!

i love making these.

the ball is now rolling.

We met with our realtor, Tom, tonight for the first time. It was so exciting to take the first step... we have started the process! Our first hour was spent with a lady from Wells Fargo, getting our preapproval for a loan and learning more about the numbers of buying a house... there are lots of numbers. And then we met with Tom and discussed our hopes and dreams of what we want our house to be... bedrooms, location, garage, age, and no white carpet. No white carpet is a huge dream of mine, and I think it will come true. I am really hoping so... I hate all things white in a house: walls, tile, appliances, carpet, etc. I know I will not get all of these, but I will try very hard! Tom has set up a website for us to look at houses that fit within our parameters. I am ready to shop! I will keep you posted with our favorites! So... our next step in the process is to look online and find houses that we would be interested in walking through. We are not sure when we will start this but if a "right" one comes up... we are ready to check it out. Wooohooo!

my photo of the day.

After our meeting with Tom, we had to make a stop at an AT&T store. Last night I dropped my phone in the basement and the screen went black. Whoops. We didn't have insurance on the phone, and I have only had it for a year so I was in a bad place... until my dad gave me his upgrade! He is such an AWESOME dad! He let me steal his upgrade, so I was able to get a phone at the rebated contract price instead of the full price! So cool! One of the cheapest options was an LG Vu... which is a fancy touchscreen phone. I went for it, and I love it! Thanks dad!

its fun.

cleaning and crafts.

As I was cleaning and redecorating the house this weekend, I couldn't help but get excited for our new home. For those of you who don't know, we are planning on buying a house this fall! Yay! I am so excited to decorate rooms and sew curtains and plant flowers in our yard. I am ready for a guest bedroom decorated with flowers and paint on our bedroom walls and some sweet refinished Goodwill finds. I am so thankful for our house now...but I am so ready for something to call our very own! Eeeee! My house idea book is bursting with ideas!

i love spring.

I am selling cards again in the Compassion craft fair. It is at the end of this week, Thursday and Friday I believe. And once again I put off making them until the last minute...I will figure out this craft fair thing sometime. I wouldn't be so stressed if I made them over a few months. Oh well. 12 down...about 13 more to go.

thanks for the "free" tags dad!

happy birthday benny b!

I hope you have a wonderful birthday! We are so excited to come visit you... less than a year away! Thanks for being such an awesome friend to G and I. We love you Ben!

lucky is not the right word.

Today, being St. Patrick's day, I was thinking about how lucky I am at this time in my life... I have a great husband, a caring family, and wonderful friends. But I don't think this has all happened because I am a lucky girl. The Lord has been so gracious and blessed me immensely! I must remember to go to Him even when everything is looking great... not just when things are not going so hot. I am so thankful for all of you! You are huge blessings to me... and G!

so blessed.

lots of cheneys.

Last night we had dinner in Denver with all of the Colorado Cheney's... plus one from the Shield's side. Every time we get together I wonder why we don't do it more often. We always have lots of laughs and make great memories. G and I are truly blessed to have family here.

G and Grant went skiing, and I spent the afternoon with my girlfriends at a St. Patrick's parade downtown...what a great Saturday!

happy birthday grant!

Thanks for being so much fun! We love living in Colorado with you. Thanks for entertaining my husband a few times a week so I can have some alone time! We love you Grant.

we heart the sawries.

G and I had so much fun during Katie & Ryan's visit! We picked them up from the airport on Friday night. It was pretty late so the only plans were to take them to a fun bar in downtown Colorado Springs. We went to my favorite place, Metropolitan. It is an underground restaurant/bar that has an entrance that looks like a metro station entrance in Paris...soooo cool.

The weather was kinda crazy on Saturday. It had been in the 70s all week and hadn't snowed in weeks...and Saturday was cold AND it was snowing! Our plans were to drive to the top of Pikes Peak and to spend time outside...this didn't exactly happen. We went to Garden of the Gods and then got some lunch in Manitou Springs at a great pizza place. After lunch, the boys went to the arcade and the girls shopped.

Saturday night we had a kgroup party for Ben's birthday. Ben and his wife Melissa are a fun new couple who have been coming to kgroup! It was a "b" themed party...costumes and snacks needed to start with the letter "b". I had a lot of fun creating my costume for this party...I was a box of bubble wrap. G was a banana, Katie was a bachelorette, and Ryan was Charles Barkley! It was a good time.

On Sunday we decided to skip church and head out early for some snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park. G and I got snowshoes using his "exercise money" from Young Life this year and we were excited to try them out! We also wanted Katie & Ryan to spend some time in the mountains while they were visiting. It was a BEAUTIFUL day! Perfect weather and a clear blue sky. We hiked a 4.5 mile round trip trail to and from a lake. It was pretty steep at times...the Cheney's were hurting. We aren't very good at "exercise"...the Sawrie's on the other hand were rock stars! They weren't even acclimated to the altitude of Colorado and they were great! We wore ridiculous outfits and had a blast! And we ate at CASA BONITA for dinner!

we look so good.

i love this girl.

And our final day together was spent in Denver...touring the Coors Brewery, checking out the Denver Mint, and visiting the Red Rocks Amphitheater. Free Coors Light tasted good at 10:30 am.

three beers and a pepsi.

Thanks for coming guys...it was so much fun! We look forward to many more trips with the Sawrie's!

hot dog.

This week has been a bit crazy preparing for our friends from Purdue, Katie & Ryan, to come visit. We are very excited to spend the weekend with them!

senior year spring break. naples, fl.

our wedding day.

Some of the preparations included Garrett making a towel animal to welcome them to Colorado. Our "how to" book came from the cruise we took for our honeymoon...the instructions are pretty poor and the pictures are not very helpful but they are fun to try! We have found that elephants are the easiest animal to make so we thought that is what we were going to do...but by a stroke of luck and the right pull of the towel, G was able to make a cow!

and he needed googly eyes...of course.

We also got something very cool from eBay in the mail this week. A hot dog costume for a newborn baby! No I am not pregnant. I saw this at Old Navy during Halloween and I loved it! So...we found it at a great price, bid on it, and won! It will probably be one of the first photos we take of our child...Norman the hot dog.

so awesome.
