virginia.

After our time in Indiana, we boarded a flight for Baltimore to see Jamie & Gracie. We hadn't seen them since they moved away from Colorado in May... and little Logan has been born since then! They are now living about an hour outside of Washington DC in Virginia. Gracie & Millie were so excited to see each other at first, but the rest of the trip was a bit hard- two little ladies who know how to push each others buttons. Yikes. Jamie & I felt like referees for most our time at their house, but we did have some sweet moments together too. We went to Mount Vernon (George Washington's house) on our first full day there, spent some downtime at their house on the second day for a good naptime, went to the National Zoo on our last full day, and walked in a neighborhood Halloween parade on the morning before our flight home. I'm super happy we went... I just wish it had been a little less stressful. Millie was sick the day of our flight home, which was interesting, but we made it! It was a long flight, and we were so excited to see G when we got off the elevator at DIA. We missed him a lot.

and seeing the tiniest glimpse of the monuments in DC makes me excited for a family trip back to be tourists.

thirty-two months.

millie's thirty-second month...

- she is wearing 18-24month, 24month, & 2T clothes.

- she is still in size4 diapers.

- she is wearing size5 & size6 shoes.

- she weighs around 25pounds.

- no changes in sleep or medication.

- she rode her first pony.

- she went to her first musical.

- she had her first soda... a kid's size rootbeer at dognsuds.

- when asked what her name is, she has started saying "millie moo cheney."

- she went to virginia and saw gracie for the first time since may.

- she celebrated her second liver day.

- she's needing more timeouts. she knows where to sit & how she needs to act, and she almost always tells me she is sorry as soon as i come over to talk to her about what she did.

- we hear, "i want something" often about wanting different things.

- she counts to 10 and sometimes past, but she always misses 5.

- she wants to sing songs before bed.

- she still doesnt like slides, but shows no fear with climbing at parks.

- she is talking so much, and is pretty easy to understand.

- and she knows what she wants to be for halloween. she hasnt changed her mind since telling us a few weeks ago- she picked abby cadabby!

stoneycreek farm.

We headed to Indianapolis for a day with Aunt Jess & Uncle Chris... and Sophie, Cameron, & Jess' mom too. We went to Stoneycreek Farm for some fall activities- Millie's first pony ride, a ride in a barrel train, a hayride around a pumpkin patch, and a few games to use up extra tickets. It was a warm 80degrees so it didnt really feel like fall, but it was a fun afternoon outside.

millie's liver is two!

i love that most days i forget that she was ever sick. this year has been the easiest of her life, and we hope that each year gets better & better. she was in the hospital for rejection twice over the past year, but both times were short stays for steroids. she has longer periods between appointments, and fewer labs than ever. we are so thankful for her liver, and also remember the gift that was given to us from a grieving family. happy liver day to our millie!

Millie's special day began with balloons and a present after breakfast. We waited for Nana to arrive, and then we headed off to Fair Oaks Farm about an hour north of Lafayette. It is a working dairy and pig farm... offering tours of both to see how the farms work. We took a bus to one of the eleven dairy farms owned by Fair Oaks. We drove through where the cows are kept, where they store their food, and then we got out to see how the cows are milked... it was filled with lots of information that we really enjoyed. Millie even enjoyed seeing all the cows- especially the babies. After the dairy tour, we checked out the birthing barn. There wasn't a birth is progress when we got to the barn, but we went in to check it out anyways. Within just a few minutes a new cow came in and the worker in the barn said that this mama cow should have a quick birth... just a few minutes later we saw the new calf. And thank goodness it wasn't terrible to watch! We decided to have lunch next before the pig farm tour- tasty grilled cheese sandwiches, side salads, and ice cream for dessert. The pig tour was self-guided through a large building, with large windows to see into the buildings that held the pigs. At this farm they artificially inseminate the lady pigs, take care of them through their pregnancy & delivery, keep the piglets with their mamas until they reach a certain age, and then send the littles off to other farms... and the mamas go through it again. I didn't love learning about the pigs as much as the cows, but Millie loved the piglets. We were able to see a minutes old piglet and ask questions. They asked for the kids in the group to name the piglet, and Millie was the only one to yell a name out for him- oink oink! We finished at the pig farm, and then headed home for naps. To end Millie's special day, we met Nana, Grandpa, Grant, & Allison for dinner out and then came back to my parents' house for a few presents & cupcakes. I think she enjoyed her second liver day!
