we joined the vanwinkles for a quick overnight trip to aspen. millie
& i are heading out to indiana next week for a few weeks, so we
wanted to get out and see the beginning of fall color. our first stop on
the drive at twin lakes was amazing, and gave the maroon bells a run
for their money. and i love the maroon bells. we made a few stops at
pretty spots along independence pass... including at the top where
millie was able to play in some snow. we spent saturday evening hanging
out at the condo, and woke up super early on sunday to make it to the
maroon bells before the parking lot filled up for the day... parking in
the lot is way easier than dealing with the buses. it was freezing for
the first hour, but warmed up nicely over the next hour once the sun
reached us. this was our third time at the maroon bells, and i think it
was my favorite time. the reflection was awesome. after a lot of photos,
we decided it was time to head out... we drove the pass back home,
stopping in leadville for a pizza lunch, and made it home in time to
have an easy sunday evening at home. thanks to the vanwinkles for a
super fun weekend away!

thirty-one months.
millie's thirty-first month...
-she is wearing 18-24month, 24month, & 2T clothes.
- she is wearing size4 diapers.
- she wearing size5 & size6 shoes.
- she weighs about 25pounds.
- no changes in sleep or medication.
- she officially has all of her teeth.
- she is a picky eater.
- she went in the potty for the first time... just a small bit right before her bath one evening.
- she replies to everything with "ok!" or "okiedokie!"
- she loves yelling "oopie daisy!" whenever something is dropped.
- she fell in love with her "tutu train" and wore it every day for about a week.
- she has finally starting saying "no thank you" more than she just yelling "no!"
- she rode her first scooter.
- she went to the north pole for the first time.
- she went to st. louis.
- she asks for "banbaids" often... we may need to set rules for them soon.
- she loves the show doc mcstuffins and prefers to watch the disney jr app over the pbs app for shows.
- she is talking in full sentences more & more.
- she can recognize her name by the letter "M."
- she knows how old she is and what her last name is... sometimes her middle too.
- she knows that mama is jennifer & daddy is garrett.
- she learned how to put on a pair of shoes all by herself.
- she went to the top of pikes peak for the first time.
- she went to her first fair and her first rodeo.
- she had her hair in pigtails for the first time.
- and she is responding well to having choices when she gets upset... "you cant leave your room, its time to sleep- you can either rock with me for a few minutes or go straight in your crib." she picks rocking and not going to sleep is no longer an option. she truly seems to get it. its working for us during this time of her wanting more control.

happy birthday g!
we celebrated our favorite guy today! i took millie to the dollar tree and let her pick out some presents for her daddy... ive seen this idea on a few blogs and have been wanting to do it for awhile. millie loved it, and seemed to have specific reasons for almost everything she picked out. she was very picky with her choices... it was fun to watch! she even brought her purse filled with cards to "pay" for the presents. we put up a few decorations, made him a special dinner, and gave him the night to play poker with friends. we love you g! happy 29th!

st. louis.
We spent the weekend in St. Louis with G's family... we went for a cousin's wedding, but we were able to be tourists a bit too! We arrived Friday afternoon. Millie was great on the plane... this was her 4th of 6 trips this year, so she has become an easy travel buddy. Our first stop was lunch at Pappy's Smokehouse- one of the top places for BBQ in St. Louis. The ribs were awesome. After lunch, we checked out a park downtown. It provided a great view of the arch, and fun sculptures to explore. We spent the rest of Friday afternoon & evening at the City Museum. It was AWESOME! Words cant truly explain it... a rooftop ferris wheel, a 10story slide down an old shoe factory spiral chute, giant ball pits, tons & tons of tunnels to climb through, the worlds largest pencil, and so much creativity & art. G & Grant were like 8year old boys climbing through the tunnels and finding all the slides. Hardcore visitors were knee pads for all the tunnels... it is crazy. It wasnt the best for Millie, but she was awesome. She loved the rooftop & exploring the kids area, and was so patient while G was climbing. If you go to St. Louis... go to the City Museum. The wedding was Saturday afternoon, so we spent the morning at the hotel- donuts, swimming, cable tv, and naps. Kristie & Josh had a really nice ceremony, and the reception was a good time. Millie discovered the chocolate fountain, and loved all the dancing. It was nice to see family, and we loved seeing Kristie so happy! Before we flew home on Sunday, we had a big breakfast and then went to the St. Louis Zoo. It's free to the public, and a really nice zoo. The humidity was out of control, but we still our enjoyed our time there. I think the sea lions were our favorite!
what a fun weekend!
thanks to g's parents for everything!!
