getting excited.
I love dressing up in costumes... it is probably in my top 5 favorite things to do in life. My favorite part is when I am first envisioning the outfit... the theme, the dress, the accessories, the headband. My mind starts going, and I begin to write down my ideas. I try to find the dress or outfit first... many times I have something already in my collection that I picked up during a random shopping trip to Goodwill. I like to buy crazy dresses when I see them... because who knows what will be available when you only have a few days to find something. A great dress find makes me so giddy. Goodwill shopping may be in my top 5 also... I love it! And then I think about all the accessories... shoes, jewelry, headbands, purses. It is important to me to think about every detail, from my head to my toe! I can't wait to dress up our children... I hope they enjoy it as much as I do! And... I need to learn how to sew ASAP, so their costumes are super cool.
i am so excited for our halloween party tomorrow night! woohoo!

oh yea.
Pumpkin carving is one thing the Cheneys take very seriously... especially the accountant husband who strives for perfection. He spent 4.5 hours making our KoolAid man look amazing... he even used a can of air. I love him and his pumpkin carving skills.

its a tie.
I went to a craft show with Susan this afternoon, and this was my favorite find of the day. It is a headband... made from ties. So cool! I will be getting a few more for Christmas!

little lady.
We went to the Golden Bee tonight for Ben & Melissa's big reveal... is it going to be a boy or a girl?! Pink balloons were spotted the minute we walked in the door... they are going to have a little lady!

a cheney family dinner.
We hosted 13 Cheneys at our home on Saturday night... dinner and hangout time. No... I did not cook for them. I am not crazy. Granny, her 3 sons, their 3 wives, and 6 of her grandchildren are all in Colorado for the weekend. Pretty cool. It was so nice to have family time.

a dinner party for our friend jen.
I just spent the evening with some of my favorite ladies in the world! We celebrated our friend Jen and her 29th birthday with a "Pioneer Woman" dinner party. Cathy was the mastermind and the rest of us girls helped in whatever way we could. I volunteered to dress the table, and I loved every minute of it! We made an appetizer, a salad, a main dish, and a tasty dessert... all from the Pioneer Woman's new cookbook. Jen is a big fan of the Pioneer Woman and her blog... if you've never read it, you should check it out!

samantha.
My life has been saved by books on cd from the library that I can listen to all day at work. I need the entertainment to keep me from going insane. The monotonous packet stuffing goes much smoother when I can get lost in a story. I was at the library recently when I came across the American Girl stories on cds. Jackpot! I haven't read these since I was a young girl, and I loved them! I got on the AG website to find the names of the new girls that have come out since I stopped reading... and found out that the doll I had, Samantha, no longer exists! Can you believe it?! She is gone. Crazy. I was able to find 5 of the girls' stories at the library... including my Samantha. I have enjoyed listening...

an afternoon with the sonntags.
G & I went to Mueller State Park this afternoon with our friends Kevin & Jen to check out the aspen trees. Our plans were to camp, but the forecast of a chilly 29degree night changed our minds. It was a beautiful fall afternoon. The hike was nice, but the aspen trees weren't great. We are a little late in the season... and our weather has been crazy and cold. It was nice to get outside and be "Colorado". After our hike we went downtown to have dinner... but before eating we stopped for a photo shoot at these crazy vine structures on the Colorado College campus. We had dinner at one of my favorites... Metropolitan. Truffle fries. Mmmmm.
