our friday.

we introduced caroline to young life...
and spent time outside after the rain playing hide & seek in her new pink natives... these shoes are a special reward for having zero potty accidents for the past week. she found them at REI last weekend while we were shopping for a summer hat for her, and she fell in love with them. we decided to make them a no accident reward, because we've had a hard time getting her to stop playing/watching tv & go while she is at home- she needed a little motivation and these worked wonderfully. she talked about them all week, chose to wear undies from morning until bedtime, and didn't throw fits when i made her try. and now she is motivated to keep it up so that she can go to "frozen school" in a few weeks... the vacation bible school at our church is frozen themed this year, and they require 3year olds to be potty trained. i signed her up knowing that she is potty trained enough to go, but i want her to know that it is an important part of getting to go- no accidents at frozen school!
after watching the movie, aristocats, she learned this move from "the orange cat"... g & i missed the part in the movie so we don't really know what she is doing, but it makes us laugh everytime! she was chasing g on the driveway with this face.
hooray for the weekend.

our sunday.

caroline's first sunday morning at church.
and this... we let millie have rest time in her room this afternoon instead of taking a nap... she's normally not allowed to get out of her bed during naptime, but we allowed it today since she was just resting/having alone time. i regularly keep art supplies in her room, and it's never been an issue until today... thank goodness for the video monitor! we checked in on her after a bit of alone time, and saw her standing at her mirror- it looked like she was pretending to put on make-up. i went up to her room since we couldn't see exactly what she was doing. i opened the door and her eyes were huge & surprised to see me. i couldn't help but laugh... she smiled as i took the photo, and then started crying after we let her know that this wasn't cool and to not do it again. we are a creative family, but we prefer that markers are only used on paper. she couldn't tell us why she did it... it's odd because normally she doesn't like getting marker on her hands. thank goodness it all came off in the bath, and she managed to keep her dress spotless!
at least she didn't draw on her face...
hooray for another day with g tomorrow!

caroline's two week appointment.

she's perfect and completely normal for a 2week old! she now weighs 7pounds 9ounces, which was a 5ounce gain in the past week- almost to her birth weight. her doctor was very happy with that... happy enough that it's ok that she's been sleeping 6-7hour stretches at night, and i don't need to be waking her up to eat! and she doesn't need to be seen again until her 2month appointment. so awesome!

5.18.2014

thirty-nine months.

millie's thirty-ninth month...
- she is wearing 2T & 3T clothes and size6 & size7 shoes.
- she's been skipping her nap a few times a week. our new system of getting her down between 1pm & 2pm has been helping with bedtime... and she does really well when she skips her nap- but mama still needs that time, so we aren't getting rid of it completely.
- potty training is about the same... she does great when she is away from home, but has accidents at least once a day while she is home playing & distracted. i am constantly asking and encouraging her to try, but she claims she doesn't need to go... and then a few minutes later she pees. it needs to be a focus during the next month. i'm ready for her to be potty trained!
- she is a BIG SISTER! she calls caroline, "my baby."
- she had her first sleepover with a friend at ella's house.
- she loves tracing letters, numbers, and shapes. her patience & concentration are impressive.
- she tells knock knock jokes- "knock knock. who's there? ELEPHANT WEARING A HAT!" she doesn't quite get it... she just changes up the animal and what they are wearing everytime- but we love it.
- and she still LOVES sleeping beauty.

our sunday.

and another week begins...

our week.

monday- newborn photos with tina! and she also had a check-in with her pediatrician for weight & bili... she's back up to 7pounds 4ounces, and she is done dealing with bili checks! dr. kiley said that she's a perfect little one!
tuesday- my first day home alone with the girls. my mom flew out first thing in the morning, and g needed to be at work for some specific things that needed to get done. it was a surprisingly easy day! caroline woke up at 8:30 to eat, and millie woke up a little after 9- perfect! we had a normal day at home... just with a few feedings added in & a little more patience on millie's part- she was awesome. i was easily able to shower, we ate two meals, we all napped in the afternoon, and the house stayed pretty tidy... i would call it a success! we LOVE having family here, but the routine of our days is so easy for us.
wednesday- i made it out of the house with both girls to jen's house. evie, hudson, and millie discovered the excitement in making mud cakes... i don't think millie has ever been dirtier- luckily we had an overnight bag packed in the car for nana & papa's. after grabbing lunch, i dropped millie off at the townhome. i brought caroline home, and was amazed at the ease of just having a newborn! it was a great day of bonding with just her... i enjoyed it a lot.
thursday- i spent the day with caroline... and got a pedicure! it was nana's birthday, so we met them & millie out for dinner.
friday- we had a sweet morning at home... millie felt like caroline needed some toys to keep her entertained. and a second after the sweet sister photo millie said, "can you get her off of me now please?" we headed to the townhome for the afternoon to visit with g's aunt joyce, and then millie stayed for another overnight.
and we ended our week with lots of tv watching on the couch with our new little girl. it was awesome.
we are thankful for g's parents and their willingness to keep millie so much! i have loved the time to bond with caroline, and i've also loved our time as a new family of 4. i can't believe we have little sisters!
