advent. day twenty-five.

miss elf brought a special christmas tree set for her dollhouse...
and then we said goodbye to miss elf until next year!

our ramey christmas.

We made it to my parents' house in time for a big Christmas dinner on the 25th. Our plan was to open a few gifts after dinner, and then have our Christmas morning on the 26th... but Millie was really excited and wanted to open presents, so we ended up opening them all that night! She got princess shoes, a princess nightgown, a dollhouse (so awesome!), and lots of other fun presents! She didn't take the shoes & gown off once they went on... and even gave us a few performances after gifts, complete with the funniest little bows after each song. It was awesome. Another funny moment that we will be talking about for years... she opened up a Minnie dvd, rolled her eyes, walked over to the trash, and threw it away. We have no clue why, and we all just laughed... and her mama was slightly embarrassed. We watched it this afternoon, and she loved it. Crazy girl. It was a great night with my family, and I'm so thankful for all of my presents!

it's good to be home with family.

our cheney christmas.

We celebrated Christmas with G's family on the 25th... we had dinner, went to church, & hung out on Christmas Eve and woke up around 10 for presents & a big breakfast. Millie got her first special baby doll, a Bitty Baby from American Girl, and many other fun presents. And thanks to his family for all of my fun presents! We didn't really talk about Santa while opening presents, so I'm looking forward to next year when we can create our Santa traditions & excitement.

matching dresses for millie & baby from nana.

advent. days twenty-three and twenty-four.

a new book & a birthday party for jesus!

12.21.2013

a 17hour drive.

we left at 6pm and made it to my parents' house just after 11am colorado time. g chose to drive the entire way, i was the co-pilot, and millie was awesome. she didn't sleep very much, but was never upset to be in her seat. flying is still way better though... obviously.

12.20.2013

it's a girl!

i had my 20week ultrasound done this morning at 19weeks... im so thankful that my doctor was cool with me getting it a week early before our trip home from christmas! we were excited to find out that we are having a girl... millie knew that it was a girl all along, and she was very disappointed that we didnt get to bring her home today after our appointment. (mama's not ready for 2 yet!) she is measuring at 18weeks 4days, which is perfect, and weighs about 9ounces. the tech said that everything else looked great to her, but we will go over all the photos & measurements with my doctor at my next appointment after the first of the year. next up... we need a name! we are planning to make a list during our 18hour road trip home. we have lots of time to brainstorm.

advent. days nineteen and twenty.

snow globes & a book for the big sister!

thirty-four months.

millie's thirty-fourth month...
- she is wearing 24month & 2T clothes and mostly size6 shoes.
- she is still wearing a size4 diaper.
- her tacro levels are finally where her doctors want them, so she has a month off from labs.
- she is still napping 2-3hours a day.
- she has been fighting hard at bedtime to stay up... sometimes over an hour of calling us into her room to ask something. it's getting old.
- she climbed out of her crib for the first time. and then did it again the next day. and then didnt for a few weeks... until this past week when she fell out head first. i caught her running back to her room from the loft, and as i opened her door she was climbing back in and fell. it surprisingly didnt scare her enough, because she got out 2 more times before she went to sleep that night. we took her blanket away for the whole night and until naptime the next day. it was her first night sleeping without it since before her transplant... it was nice to see that she can do it. she hated not being able to have a blanket as a consequence, and hasnt climbed out since. we are going to switch to her big girl bed when we get home from indiana, after the first of the year... we dont want to switch before our trip, because she wont be in a big girl bed at her grandparents' houses. i also took out her second pillow and also her crib bumper which makes it nearly impossible for her get out... she is too short without them. i should have realized that sooner!
- we hung a potty chart for her. she asks to go about once a day... sometimes she goes and sometimes she doesnt. we are still waiting for undies until after our trip. and tmi but she is surprisingly best at going #2- which is a huge bonus because a lot of kids hate that part of potty training.
- we are working really hard on spelling her name. she recognizes it immediately as her name, and knows that it starts with an M and has 2 Ls... we just need a few more letters! (this is while reading it from the chalkboard or from paper, not from memory.)
- she has finally stopped skipping #5 when couting to 10.
- she is obsessed with her sparkly boots, and asks to wear them most days.
- she can now open doors easily... ugh. i think she had a growth spurt this month- climbing out of the crib & door handles! so we had to put child protective covers on her door and the front door. she is pretty good about listening and not opening when she's not supposed to, but we don't want her to have a rebellious moment and end up outside without us knowing.
- she is talking all the time... and we love to listen to her play with little dolls & figurines. she makes them play & chat together. it is so dang cute. she is especially loving the doc mcstuffins figurines that she got for christmas from us.
- she likes to hide from daddy when she hears the garage door go up after work.
- anytime we tell her that we are proud of her or that she did a great job or that her outfit is cute, she says "thank you" in the sweetest little way.
- she always wants to help me clean when i have the spray bottles out... she cleans all of the wood tables and her high chair.
- when talking about family the other night, she said "my friends are family too!" she loves her little friends so much.
- and she is ready for christmas!!
