our sunday.

i wore an outfit to church that i've worn many times before... but not in the last year or so. i felt so awkward in it- a dress, a few colors, ballet flats. i've gotten in a rut of just wearing comfy gray/black shirts & shorts with my birks. every. single. day. i need to wear more dresses- maybe not a lot more color. i miss being excited to get dressed every morning.

lunch out after church. it's rare, but it's my favorite.
water balloon fight!
funny moment... i came out of caroline's room after putting her to sleep and saw g in the bathroom with millie and said, "what are you wearing?!" and g said, "look in the mirror." ha. totally forgot what i was wearing.

camping.

prophetstown state park... less than 15minutes from our house. not quite the colorado mountains, but it will do.
once she saw millie's helmet... she wouldn't take it off until we put on pajamas a few hours later.
all camo things are for camping, according to millie.
she wore it the entire time at the park... through tunnels & down slides.

a state park with a water park... so awesome. the water was freezing, but the girls had a blast.
we invited the grandparents to our campsite for dinner.
millie joined a kickball game for a few innings after dinner... she was pretty confused since she hadn't ran bases before.
our plan was to stay a second night, but as we were eating dinner it began to rain and it was going to continue off & on all night. we knew that millie would not do well if it thundered... so rather than packing up at midnight with a scared little girl in the dark, we decided to pack up in the light and head home to our comfy beds. i love camping, but i was happy to cut it short- i slept terribly the first night.

not sure when she did this, but i loved finding it.

indiana beach.

thanks to nana & papa for our day at indiana beach!

we hadn't been to indiana beach since we were kids, maybe middle school for me, so weren't really sure what to expect. it was the perfect day to go, because there weren't any lines for any of the rides (thanks to school being back in session!)- none of the rides, even the few roller coasters, would be worth a long wait in line. millie enjoyed the rides in kiddie land, and so did caroline. and millie was able to ride a few other rides in other parts of the park. there were a few rides that she wasn't tall enough for that she wanted to go on, but she was content with what all she could ride... and hopefully she will be tall enough next summer for some new ones. g, cort, and i enjoyed the few roller coasters that are there... the wooden ones are a bit painful, but fun for a ride or two & the steel one was pretty fun. one bummer for the day is that we found out, after we got our swimsuits on, that the waterpark was closed for the day- not enough lifeguards showed up for work. we were hoping to cool off in the afternoon in the water- luckily it wasn't too hot! even though we couldn't do the waterpark, we still had enough left that we wanted to do that we stayed until it was time to go get dinner. and because our tickets included the waterpark and it wasn't available to us, they gave us 4 tickets to come back another time. it was a fun day... i don't think we would go back to multiple times a summer or even every summer, but it's fun to have an amusement park less than an hour away from home.
