our weekend.

cort's cousin, karen, came to visit for the weekend!
we checked out an art exhibit downtown called the zoo... it was awesome. all of the animals are made from junk.
and after dinner out saturday evening to celebrate my grandma's 81st birthday... we went to a church to see fireworks!
they handed out fliers at millie's vbs for a church picnic at faith, so we checked it out with the jill, mark, & owen. we had lunch, millie got to jump in a few bounce houses & have her hand painted, caroline got to pet a pony which made her so happy, and we all got free kona ice. it was a fun afternoon.
and to end the weekend, cort & susan hosted an ice cream social for a few of cort's (& garrett's) clients to meet our family.

our week.

columbian park with jill & owen!
we went to see the animals... but we didn't make it past the water at the front of the zoo.
a quick outfit change & our first shaved ice of the summer.
goggles make sprinkler runs more fun.
faith vbs... all week from 6-8:30. we chose faith because it is our mops church... millie didn't know a single little friend that was going to be there, and she still showed no fear when she went to sit with her group for the first time. i love her brave & outgoing spirit... she is up for most anything & loves to make new friends. i am always so proud of her.
i love our front porch.
millie picked out her own umbrella to keep in the car... it's a bit big, but she is so cute carrying it.
taken by millie with my real camera.
she points at the chair after almost every meal... she loves to stand like this.
millie spent the night with nana & papa, and then had a bowling playdate with maya the next morning!
thanks to g's parents for getting us a tractor to mow our huge yard!
the first thing that caroline goes for in the craft room- a colored pencil & a pad of paper... and then she starts drawing.

father's day.

he's our favorite, and we are so lucky he is ours!
thanks for being a great dad, g.
happy father's day!
we love you tons.

louisville.

G and I got away for a quick overnight in Louisville to celebrate our anniversary... thanks to our parents for watching the girls- it was Caroline's first overnight away! We went to the Kentucky Derby Museum, which included a short tour of Churchill Downs, when we first arrived- I loved it. This activity was more for me... and then after lunch & a quick walk down Main St. downtown, we did the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience for G. We then checked in to our hotel, got ready for dinner, and drove to the NULU area of downtown for dinner. Our dinner at Fiesta, BBQ was awesome- a bourbon slushie & bbq that even G loved. Our final thing for the day was underground ziplining at Mega Cavern... an old limestone quarry that has been bought & turned into a business- storage for tons of companies & all of the road salt used for the state of KY, and also an underground ziplining course, ropes course, bike park, & place to have your wedding reception. It was a really neat experience to zipline underground in the dark... it's about 58degrees year round & foggy during the summer months. The first few lines we walked between, but the last few were up off the ground, so we were tethered in & walked across suspension bridges to get from line to line- I loved the ziplines, but didn't love the bridges. Our guides were funny, and we had a good group of people with us... we had a lot of fun! We didn't get back to our hotel until after midnight... and didn't wake up until 11- so awesome. We packed up and headed for home to see our girls, and to celebrate their daddy! It was so nice to have time for just us... and to not be needed constantly by little ones.

happy #8 to us!
