the first bbq of the summer.

thankful that we made it back in time for a memorial day bbq with our friends!

remembering kyle.

G's cousin Kyle died last Saturday... Grant, G, and I drove to Illinois this weekend to attend his funeral and spend time with family. I am so thankful that we could make it. I loved spending time with the family... it is awesome to see how close they are, and I love getting to be a part of it. Kyle was a super fun guy, and he will be missed. Now he is Heaven, hanging out with his maker.

checking out a crazy store near granny's house... a favorite of the cousins.

granny.

Granny came out to visit all of her Colorado kids and grandkids... we went to Denver to have dinner with her and the family. It was a nice treat to see everyone and the progress that John & Maggie have made on their home... so awesome!

Also... I finally had time to take photos of some clothes that Granny sent me last month. They are super cool! When asked about them, she told me "I used to be hip!" I agree... I am sure she looked awesome in these outfits back in the day. I am excited to wear them for different parties in the future... and our kids with have awesome dressup clothes from their greatgrandma!

i love getting packages!

this one will be perfect for sarah's luau next month!

barbies.

I loved Barbies as a young girl... actually I was obsessed with Barbies until the summer after 8th grade! All of my money went to Barbie clothes and playsets... and my birthday & christmas lists were always filled with Barbie things. They had many cars, a motorhome, and a rather large town with a McDonald's, post office, bank, supermarket, and other necessary places. My friend, Diana, and I would make my whole entire room their house... including all the shelves and space in my closet. My super awesome parents would let me take over the house with my Barbies and misplaced things from my closet, so that Diana & I could spend many days playing. We loved Barbies... and we loved using our creativity to make their house and clothes even better! I still know the names and stories for my Barbie family... and I am sure Diana knows hers. I am a better lady because I played Barbies... I just know it! It helped develop my love for clothes, house decorating, the color pink, and using my creativity. I hope I have a daughter who wants to play Barbies... I just need to start learning how to let them go, and realize that she may not treat them the way I did! During our visit home, I was able to look through all of my Barbies and show G how crazy I really was... he can't believe it!

do you see their bracelets... those were rubber bands for my braces!
ha! so creative!

my house...

and my moms house.
so cool!

the date on the back of this photo: August 11, 1998... yikes!
we were almost 14!

and finally...
we would take family photos from far away & cut them down to barbie size.
