a saturday morning hike at the battlefield with millie's daisy troop to finish their bicentennial badge.

nana & papa took millie on a shopping trip to pick out a new bike... she had outgrown her last one, and we are wanting to work towards taking off her training wheels this fall.

a sparkles performance.

first sparkles performance as a team of 11 at the buck creek fish fry!

sophie is on the minis team... so fun to see her at dance events since she is going to a different school this year.

millie's dance big sister from last year, angie, is no longer dancing at dmg- millie was super bummed, but loved that she was at the performance. their interactions are incredibly awkward, but millie always wants a photo with her.

millie & chloe... they were a little too small for these, but i think they had a good time.

our week.

monday is gym day... which means sneakers. and a jojo bow of course.

i had all summer to add her end-of-the-year patches from kindergarten... i waited until the day of her first meeting.

8/21/17. the day of the great eclipse. g had been excited about the total eclipse for weeks, maybe months, and really wanted to travel to the area of totality... i thought he was a little crazy, but now i wish we would have. even though he was excited about it, he forgot to tell me to get the special glasses needed to view it... i saw a post about the glasses on facebook a few days before and thought that i could get some at walmart- nope. we waited too long, and they were sold out everywhere. i had a thought to check facebook marketplace to see if anyone local was selling any, and found a lady in carmel (where my brother lives) selling them for $5 a pair. we decided it was worth it, and quickly checked to see if my brother could meet the lady in a lowe's parking lot on a friday night to save me a trip down... we knew that we would be down there on sunday to visit the sawrie family, and could swing by my brother's place & pick them up. he was said he would & he did! g came home from work early & his parents came over to watch it around 2pm, but it was super overcast at our house. his dad had the idea to drive north, so we drove about 20 minutes north of our house- stopping when we saw the clouds were gone.

it was neat to see at 92%, but after seeing videos of people who were in the path of totality... it think it's worth a trip next time it's close. and after seeing the craziness of people getting to those areas this year, we know to plan ahead.

other west lafayette people had the same idea...

millie's first tumbling class! a mom of a girl on millie's dance team works a malone's and mentioned that ashlyn would be taking a tumbling class on mondays right after school... and wanted to let other team girls know about it. the dmg option for this type of class is later at night, like 7-8pm, and i really didn't want something so late. and the change of scenery is nice! there are three girls from her team doing the class... and she is so excited! she's been asking for a long time to take a tumbling class, and i was thinking it wasn't going to happen because of our schedule- it's another night of the week with something, but it's a much better time for us. she will be working on cartwheels, roundoffs, handstands, backrolls, & walkovers- which will be so helpful if she stays in dance as she sets older.

she's hoping to be able to do splits too!

the only bad thing about tumbling on mondays from 430-515... is that twice a month she'll have girl scouts from 615-715, but she doesn't mind!

first meeting of first grade!

homework officially started this week...

we have only one night a week free... and tuesday is it. millie decided that it needs to be her weekly homework night. she said she needs comfy clothes & a snack before she can begin... and the same things for Isabelle, of course. she's so awesome. and i love that homework is exciting to her right now- i know it won't last long.

met g for lunch at sam's... ended up buying a trampoline- thanks to nana & papa!

team had an extra practice after their normal friday night class... with a break in between for dinner.

while the girls were at practice... the mamas went to a nearby restaurant for margaritas!

my friend, michelle, had mentioned that she was going to take some photos of her girls in her dad's garden, and i asked if she could take a few of my girls too. i love them!
