an appointment.

heres the update from millies appointment this morning...
- her labs were a little rough today. she was perfect, but her veins were being a bit tricky. they ended up poking her 3 different places in her left arm to get all that they needed. stupid labs!
- she gained weight! she went from 6.3 to 6.8 kilos which means she is now 15pounds! which puts her around the 4th percentile... almost on the chart at the 5th! she grew in length a small bit, and her head stayed about the same.
- her labs were back by the time we met with her liver doctor... everything looked normal and great! her doctor made the comment that she was happy everything looked good, because she wouldnt have let us go home to indiana tomorrow if any of her numbers were elevated. yikes! praise god everything looked good!
- she was excited to see her looking so healthy.
- since all of her numbers looked good, her doctor started to ween her steroids. she is now taking a 20% smaller dose. we will have to have her labs done, here in the springs, when we get back to from indiana to make sure that everything looks good with the change in dosage.
- we didnt see her dietician... for the first time, ever! we are just continuing with the extra powder in her foods, because it seems to be working!
- we dont have to go back to childrens until january 5th... and we just need to get those labs in a couple of weeks. yay!
- and she is cleared to make the trip!

while there, we met another family with a little girl who is currently on the list waiting for a new liver. her name is ellen, and she turns one is less than a week. she has a different rare liver disease than millie, but is still in need of a new liver soon. we were able to encourage the parents and give them some advice & comfort about the whole process. it felt great to be on the other side of transplant... encouraging others with how great millie has done. please pray that ellen gets her liver soon! it is tricky timing with her birthday and christmas coming... but her new liver would be the best gift possible for her and her parents. thanks!
